Karin Ibaraki (茨 (いばら) 木 (き) 夏 (か) 霖 (りん) , Ibaraki Karin^?) is a supporting character in GHOST FIXERS series. She works as a Fixer.

She's a vampire as a member of the Ibaraki family. She's a fixer and the younger sister of Jissei Ibaraki.

Etymology

• The name Karin contains the characters (夏 (か) ka) means "summer" and ({霖 (りん) rin) means "long rainy spell".
• Karin's surname Ibaraki contains the characters (茨 (いばら) ibara) means "briar, thorn" and (木 (き) ki) means "tree, wood".

Appearance

Karin has long, sleek black hair cascading down her back, accentuated by a soft blue sheen. She has large, blue eyes. She is dressed in a plush, all-white snowsuit adorned with pom-pom accents. She holds a black umbrella with a deep red interior. Her hands are covered by red gloves. She has sturdy black snow boots that have rugged soles.

Personality

Karin has a strong resolve the prove herself as well other vampire that they aren’t evil. She’s very affectionate especially toward Hifumi but also has short temper at times.

Background

Karin is a member of the Ibaraki family who are descendants of vampires who were based in the Chubu region of Japan, over the generations their vampiric characteristics like immortality, bloodsucking and sensitivity to sunlight have diminished, this isn’t the case for Karin however as she’s retained the blood of her ancestors. One day she awoke, distraught during Fafrotskies and saw Hifumi running away while crying.

Karin and her brother Jissei Ibaraki were held captive by the Correction Borough due to other vampires who came ashore during the Fafrotskies attacked humans so people called for them to be detained or fixed, Machitoshi Kose however gave them a chance to take the reality test to prove themselves and allow them to undergo fixer training due to him being an educator that specializes in Demi-humans and there being many like them among his subordinates.

According to Moka, in 2037, Ikaruga would escape from prison and annihilate the corrections bureau, killing Anmyo, Amamiya, Shimura and her in the process.

• Hifumi Kagome: Karin's former partner, Karin is in love with him, which is why their superiors ordered them to separate as romance between partners is prohibited. Some time later, thinking that Moka had feelings for Hifumi, she decided to confess her feelings to him by asking him out, to her surprise, Hifumi accepted her proposal. Currently, they are both dating.

• Although her color scheme was previously revealed, on the volume 4 cover, Karin can be seen with red eyes and black hair with pink tips.
